OK SMARTS News

Greetings from the OK SMART’s

The year of 2011 has started out by being very exciting and productive. The annual Dinner
was held in February at Jack’s Rib’s with the elections of Officers being held and sworn in by
the outgoing President WB Smith. Congratulations to Danny King in taking on the position as
our New President.

Then in March we made our Annual trip and Muster to Fort Chadbourne for two week’s where
a good time was had by all in attendance. This year the main focus for the Ladies and Men
who could not do construction work was on getting mailers ready to go for 2011 and hand
addressing mailers for 2012. This is a big project as each year there are about 4000 mailers to
be addressed and stuffed. While the were busy with that the rest is the group worked in the
New Visitor’s Center where they sealed and painted the block walls in the safe room , poured
and leveled concrete along the rails in the library , installed and reconstructed the 18 foot
Antique Back Bar and of course with any construction we cleaned floors.

Fort Chadbourne holds its Annual Open House Living Forts Days the first weekend in May and
a number of the OK;s are planning on assisting them as needed.

Our next Muster is being planned 13-16 June at Palo Duro Canyon, Texas which is south of
Amarillo . Plans are being made to attend the Chuck Wagon Feed and then take in the Cannon
Show TEXAS. Danny King is the Muster Master and his phone number for reservations is 580-
482-3114 and we welcome all to join us.

Plans are proceeding with the National Muster at Shawnee Oklahoma in September and Don
Daniels is coordinating the event. Applications are coming in slow but the number is steadily
increasing, Remember there are full hook up for the first 280.See you all there.
